It has been a month since my first post. I have had terrible access to internet, so things have been slow. Getting the new adsense websites traffic has been a big focus - and so far not successful. We (foolishly) spent $22 for a million visitors - and so far have got less than 100 visitors - and that was over 2 weeks ago. So perhaps in 6 years I will get my millionth visitor.
We have been exploring other online money making avenues. Having had reasonable success in getting free organic search rankings in the past we have never gone down the paid advertising route. BUT ... it is taking too long. For fear of being someone who looks at their adsense report 20 times a day ... I need to wait a while for them to rank - and in the meantime ... we are going over to the other side. Adwords. Not having much money at all to start - I have redeemed my bonus $25 from my godaddy.com hosting account and I am sitting on the precipice ready to launch my first campaign.
I have heard so many adwords horror stories I havent been keen to jump in unprepared so ... spending more money on learning I signed up for ppcclassroom.com . I have spent the last 2 days doing the lessons and the quizes at the end of each module. I have to say my eyes have been opened. I totally understand why some win big at this game and most give up. It is hard work (no surprise - everything seems to be hard work). PPC Classroom has been very informative, with very detailed step by step instructions (written and in video) about how to use a raft of tools to optimize your campaigns for maximum profit. Sounds good to me - yet here I am - blogging - not clicking the activate button.
I guess this procrastination is now I realise my "finished" websites arent going to cut it with the quality score. One thing needed is an about us, contact us page. So I thought this blog might just cover that off with out my having to repeat myself on each website. So I guess I will be updating this more often.
So what is my first adwords product - We joined nicherevolution.com and they provide two ebook products per month. So the first one I have setup is www.everyday-feng-shui.info - I am hosting on godaddy.com and have used clickbank.com as my payment gateway. I am setting up the second product on the domain www.flavor-cooking-seasonings.info but will use paypal.com as my payment gateway. I guess I am experimenting on using the affiliate network of clickbank (which costs $50 to setup an account) vs my own advertising.
Well, thats the plan. Nice chatting. I guess I better stop procrastinating and go get them running. How exciting if I make some money. Fingers crossed.

Finding a balance between adsense and sensibility in life and making a living.
Perhaps I am years behind the game, but in an attempt to at least play - I have spent the last 2 months making, coding, buying and adapting over 200 adsense websites. I do have a background in making websites and have had success in organic SEO for small business websites, but this adsense thing is a whole new ballgame for me.
I should have started this blog earlier, as much for myself to see a journal of what i have done and learnt - and it may be able to help some other newbies shortcut to success faster.
My plan is to continue to launch adsense websites until the end of the year. By then my latest batch of adsense websites should be coming to age and i am going to actually promote, link to and market them. I guess I just wanted to blog about my experience as I don't believe i am the only one out their who has bought this dream lock stock and barrel. I honestly believe it is possible to earn considerable money from adsense. I just plan to blog about it from the ugly - making no money with adsense - beginning. Hopefully i get to become one of those success stories I keep reading about and then this just all gets put down to learning the hard way.
Really my journey with adsense began in January of this year. 2008. I am a member of www.boxedart.com from my previous life as a web developer for small businesses and they have a great range of templates that are easy to adjust in photoshop. Anyway, in january they added a new category "SEO Adsense Templates with RSS Content" so we bought two domain names and setup the following adsense websites exactly as I downloaded, just adding in my adsense pub-id of course.

and then did nothing. Nothing at all for over 9 months. No 1 News Source has made nothing - NADA - Zippo!! Latest You Tube has made a grand total of $4.16 since January 2008 to now Oct 2008!! So the put it up and make a mint experiment has not exactly worked. Most of the traffic i get to the Latest You Tube site interestingly comes from the keyword "latest you tube" and from the yahoo search engine.
In about April or May I bought a black hat secrets e-book and it came with a free bonus of a case study by .... In it he talked about using hypervre to get adsense earnings of $9000 then $14,000 a month. That case study got me back onto the adsense thing seriously. I was trying to code up some speciality sites by myself, learning python and using the new google app server. But I kept hitting walls and sometimes doing stuff by yourself (even with google to "google" answers) is just too hard.
The black hat book had a link to a list of the high paying adword keywords and I used that list to select my first topic I was going to make money from. DUI defense attorneys and lawyers. The list said they these keywords were costing between $50 and $90. So i wanted to be on the recieving end of some of that. So I bought 3 more domain names and started writing articles about DUI so I could capitalize on this great paying keyword. The site defense-attorney-dui.com took me and my partner (who did most of the copy and all the articles) over a week to complete. And I still wasnt that happy with it. Anyway, as it isnt really a topic we were that interested in, we launched it and let it go. The other two domains sat unused as we didnt have the energy or motivation to go through that whole process again. So far since April 22, 2008 until now Oct 20, 2008 it has had 4 clicks and made me a total of $1.48 - not exactly much of a share of a $50 keyword.
Surely all these people out there selling these course and manuals are all lying about their income from adsense. Google itself is making record profits from adwords so somebody is clicking, advertisers are paying and I hope and pray somebody is getting paid for providing access to that click.
